What You Should Know Before Buying Your Wedding Invitations – The 7 Smart Keys to Put on Practice before you dive in

One of the most important parts of planning your wedding is choosing the wedding invitations.

This step is crucial because it’s the first impression your guests will get from what they can expect of your wedding and will have to represent a little of what the wedding will be like.

Looking for your ideal invitation can be arduous but very exciting as well. I went through it too and it looked like a soap opera. That’s why I’m sharing these seven pieces of advice with you.

So, based on what I have learned and the experience I have with my brides, I share with you seven key points that you will thank me for reminding you of!

3 Must-Know Actions, You Should Know, Before Buying your wedding invitations - that no one tells you

1. Get samples

Try before you buy. This step is a fundamental point that many brides forget. See, touch, feel the quality of the materials, see how it is packaged and whether it has a personal note. If you receive a personal note from the brand that shows that they care more about you and that you’re not just another customer.

TIP: Request samples with free shipping – you can get your wedding sample personalized and shipping is free.

2. Correct postage

Avoid last-minute surprises and pay more for shipping than you had intended. Did you know that square envelopes are more expensive? Send your sample by mail, to your address, to get accurate weighing and postage costs.

TIP: Remember to include the postage for your RSVP’s.

3. How fast the brand answer to your emails – test it

This lets you know if they are slow to respond or not because you don’t want to work with a brand that takes forever to respond to emails, right? Ask everything that comes to mind. What is included, how much it costs, the production time, shipping time, ask whatever comes to mind, and clear all your doubts.

4. Order extra invitations – with or without fees?

I always recommend buying some extra invitations. There are invitations that can be misplaced, backtracked, or because your parents want to invite someone else and urgently need more invitations. Buy everything extra. Find out how re-printing works. Many brands charge a very high re-print fee that you were unprepared for and it seems unfair since you only want them to reproduce what you have previously purchased.

TIP: Ask if the brand charge you fees to buy extra invitations in the future, in case you need more.

5. Production time – know when you can expect to receive your order

Some brands can take up to 6/8 weeks and nobody wants to expect that, right? It’s essential that you know how many days you will wait to get your invitations from the initial inquiry.

6. Customized or not

Some brands do not allow you to add anything, or change their design. This can be frustrating because you could love the design, but you can’t change the font, style, spacing, color, or anything else.

Keep all this in mind and ask me anything. Our invitations are 100% personalized and we are happy to help.

7. Simple Proofing errors

Missing a letter, a misspelled name, or the wrong wedding date, it’s easier than you think. Unfortunately, this can happen. Ask family and friends to take their time to proofread your stationery and pay attention, checking and rechecking. You’ll avoid commonly-made proofing errors.
